  • Are there any hidden costs or fees?

    Black Swallowtail Studios will always take pride in being transparent and fair. All fees and costs are upfront upon booking your session. We will never have any hidden fees!

  • Do you have parking?

    Yes! We believe that creating should be easy and stress-free. We have hundreds of available free parking spots right out front and around the building. In addition, to our easy access to parking, we are located on the first floor, have no steps, and have extra wide doors from the parking lot all the way to inside our studio! Easily roll all of your equipment from your vehicle right into our studio.

  • Do you offer a shuttle?

    Yes! We provide round trip transportation for free from the Little Silver Train Station (1 mile away) and for a flat fee of $20 we can pick you up and drop you off from the NYC Seastreak Ferry in Highlands, NJ (25 min away). Shuttle must be booked at least 48 hours before session.

  • How do I access my reserved studio space?

    We have a state of the art door access system that allows for our studios to be highly secured while also being extremely easy to access during your session. When you book a session at Black Swallowtail Studios you will receive an email 24 hours before your session with a digital key. This digital key will give you access to everything you need for your session. Even better, there is no need to worry about interruptions because you are the only one able to access your reserved studio space during your session.

  • When are your hours?

    Our studios and facilities are open 24/7 allowing for access no matter when you’re inspired to create. Our customer service representatives are available from 10AM-6PM everyday.

  • How do I use my memberships hours?

    All Custom Premium Members can use their hours/credits on the C.P. Member page and easily reserve their session time.

    Once your order is received a team member will review and confirm all services selected are included in your Custom Premium Membership.

  • Are memberships required?

    No, but we highly recommended it! Our membership options provide very large discounts and additional benefits!

  • Is WiFi available at Black Swallowtail Studios?

    Yes! We offer free access to extremely fast 1000mb/s Wifi to all customers.

  • How do I schedule a rental?

    Scheduling a session or rental with us is simple! Just click on the “Book Now” button appearing on the top right corner of the page. Then choose what rental you want, pick the day and the time you prefer, and finalize your booking by paying for your rental.

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

    All rentals and services will need to be booked 24 hours in advance. For last second emergencies, please contact us and we will try our best to accommodate your request.

  • Do you offer a Student Discount?

    Yes! We offer an affordable personalized Membership for all students.

  • How do I cancel or reschedule my booking?

    Guests may cancel their booking up until 7 days before their session start time and will receive a full refund (including all fees) of their booking price.

    Guests may cancel their booking between 7 days and 24 hours before their session start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their booking price.

    Booking cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the session start time are not refundable.

  • Will there be an assistant in the photo/video studio or creative lab?

    Our photo/video studio and creative lab are a self-service space. There will be no assistant included with your booking. However, if you’d like to request a production assistant, make sure to add our production assistant service when booking your session.

  • Can I do an external equipment rental?

    External equipment rentals are available when the appropriate certificate of insurance is provided.

  • Is Black Swallowtail Studios soundproof?

    We are NOT soundproof. We are sound diffused. We have tools available to assist with absorbing/diffusing sound for clients that still wish to do interviews and live streams at our location but we are not considered nor advertised as soundproof.

  • Do you offer classes and mentoring?

    As a community resource, we are happy to share our knowledge and experiences. We offer private classes and mentoring when requested. Contact us today to learn more!

  • Can I host a social event, speaking engagement, or art exhibit?

    Yes! We completely understand that you may be inspired by our creative spaces to host your next event with us. In order to see if our spaces are a good fit for your event, please call us and we can discuss a custom solution!
